The draw for the first round of this season's Emirates Junior Cup took place at Hampden Park today and Vale face the long treck north to take on Burghead Thistle at the picturesque Forest Park.  Vale last visited Burghead 8 years ago earning a 3-1 win with Hugh Ward (2) and Brian Wardle on the scoresheet.  Team: David Rogers; Alex Lacy, Brian Wardle, Jim Meechan (Paul Barton), Kevin Goodwin; Bryan Boal (Scott McKernan), Toby King, Alan Brown, Brian Smith, Graeme McKenzie (Anton Brown); Hugh Ward. Congratulations to Vale midfielder ALAN BROWN on reaching his 250th appearance for Vale yesterday at Keanie Park, the ground where he made his Vale debut on Friday 29th May 1998 just 28 days short of his 16th birthday, the youngest Vale debutant in modern times. The Vale side, managed by Hugh Hamill, that lost 2-0 was Peter Dennison, Michael Dickie, Paul McLean; Brian Smith, Martin Ryan, James Petro, Alan Brown(Willie Howie), James McGall, Joe Goldie, Scott McKernan(James McNally), Tony Currie(Paul McGrogan), Unused subs Gary McGhee & Hugh Hamill.

Vale held their 2nd Annual Sportsmans Diner at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium on Saturday night with over 200 guests in attendance. The club would like to thank main sponsor Keith Gibson of KG Bathrooms and Kitchens for his donations as well as other contributors,  Grant Vehicle Repairers, Drampac, Neil Matthews of NAR Plumbing, Morrison & Ritchie Butchers, Tommy Murray of the Glencairn Lounge, Dumbarton, John Boal and Beith Juniors, Graeme Watson of Braid Logistics, Robert Sloan Catering and Dumbarton Football Club.

 

The evening was hosted by former referee Brian McGinley with speakers Eric Davidson and John Gahagan and once again proved to be a big success. Many former players and managers were in attendance including Jimmy Johnstone, Alan Craig, John Boyd, Jim Liddell, Donald Hunter, Pat McCafferty, John McMurrich, Billy Beckett, John Filshie, George Coll, Willie Howie, Andy Oliver, Paul McGrogan, Michael Dickie, , Bryan Boal, Peter Dennison, Tom Duffy, Gordon Martin, Peter McLean, Iain Lee and Kevin Connor.
